Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you for your continued efforts to support your child and the school staff during Term 4. It is the term that keeps on giving and goes for 11 weeks! Although everyone is very tired we have much to be grateful for, including the blessings of each other and our school community. The students have been able to resume face-to-face teaching, see their friends and teachers and also participate in a number of activities we may have thought doubtful at the start of the term.
As my time as principal at St Anthony’s comes to an end, I want to thank you all for supporting the school and its community. Just in the last few weeks I have conducted quite a number of new enrolment interviews with parents wanting their child/ren to attend St Anthony’s in 2022. Often one of these parents will mention a current parent, family or child that attends the school as the way in which the school was recommended to them. St Anthony’s has always been a welcoming and engaging community to be part of and I have certainly experienced this first hand in my 9 years here. The future is bright for the school and it is what you make it so thank you for making St Anthony’s a school of choice for your child/ren.
I wish you all good health and good luck in the future.
Thank You for Welcoming Erin Marmont
Thank you to everyone for making Mrs Erin Marmont so welcome recently when she visited St Anthony’s to meet students and staff. Mrs Marmont sends her thanks for the way in which she was greeted by students and staff alike.
Congratulations - baby son for Mr Jon Liddle and wife Hayley
Congratulations to Mr Liddle and his wife Hayley on the birth of their second child. Recently they welcomed a healthy baby boy, Hamish. Hamish is a little brother to Rosie! Everyone is doing well. Mr Liddle is currently enjoying some parental leave to be with his family.
Semester Two Reports Available and Optional Parent Teacher Interviews
Recently our Kindergarten and Year 1-6 Semester Two Reports were made available to parents via COMPASS. Well done to all of our students on their learning and effort in Semester Two 2021. It has been a most challenging semester for their learning and development but they have all managed the situation as well as possible. Thank you to parents and carers for your amazing support of your child/ren too. Your lives have been very different this year and we appreciate all of your time and effort.
If you wish to discuss your child’s report please contact your child’s teacher to make an appointment. They would welcome the opportunity to talk with you.
2022 Staff Update
I wanted to thank the staff leaving St Anthony’s at the end of 2021. They have all contributed to the school in many different ways and supported student learning and their development. We wish them all well for their future endeavours as listed below:
Mrs Angela Bartkowiak - Angela is undertaking a voluntary transfer to teach at St Thomas the Apostle School in Kambah in 2022. Angela has taught various year levels in her 6 years at St Anthony’s and she has been a great contributor to school events and programs, including some great sporting events.
Mrs Sarah Stephens - Sarah is returning to Townsville in Queensland to continue her teaching and be with family. Sarah has been a real asset to the school in her 2 years here, teaching Year 4 and Year 5, as well as helping with the school musical and other initiatives.
Mr Jack Adamson - Jack is heading to Bathurst Island, 2 hours across the seas by ferry from Darwin, to teach at Murrupurtiyanuwu Catholic Primary School. What a wonderful experience this will be for Jack, the community on Bathurst Island is lucky to have him too! Jack has worked in our OOSCA service whilst studying his teaching degree and has also worked regularly as a classroom support assistant and more recently as a relief teacher this year.
Ms Gabry Borzatti - Gabry has been on sick leave in the second half of 2021 and will not teach Italian or a class in 2022. I would like to thank Gabry for teaching Italian for a number of years here at St Anthony’s, her love for the language and the Italian culture was very evident. Gabry was always looking to deepen students’ understanding of Italian.
Mrs Mercedes Pascoe - Mercedes, our school counsellor, will undertake a different counselling role within the CatholicCare organisation in 2022. I want to thank Mercedes on behalf of our school community for her gentle and pastoral approach to supporting students through her work.
The teaching staff and support staff for 2022 will be announced shortly to the community.
Claim the Date: Saturday 7 May 2022 - Family Fun Day (like a Fete but a little different!!)
The St Anthony’s Parents and Friends Association has booked in the return of a May School/Community Event. After 2 years without a school fete or major event due to COVID restrictions, next year on Saturday 7 May a Family Fun Day is planned. The P&F have booked the usual rides for kids and some other attractions. The day may be a little bit different if COVID restrictions continue but planning is underway for a great day together. In the absence of a fete coordinator volunteer or similar parent representative, the P&F are trying to pull everything together. If you would like to volunteer to assist in any way (or help coordinate the day), please contact the school office or Alison Reardon (Current P&F President).
God Bless
