Dear Families,
Thank you and Farewell Mr Paul McGregor
I would like to thank Mr Paul McGregor for his work at St Anthony’s over the last 3 years. Mr McGregor will be leaving St Anthony's at the end of Term 2. A wonderful opportunity has arisen for Paul to teach languages full-time at Farrer Primary School, where he currently teaches Japanese 3 days per week. Paul has a passion for teaching languages so he is excited about this extra opportunity. Thank you to Paul for his work on Year 6 and also for his role in supporting literacy teaching at St Anthony’s. I will let you know more about the teacher that will be working on Year 6P one day per week from next term as soon as I know more.
Semester One Reports
Our teachers have been preparing the school reports for Semester One. Information regarding modifications to our Archdiocesan School Reports was sent out in our last newsletter. St Anthony's reports will go home at the end of week 10. I again thank our teaching staff for the way that have been able to adapt to all the changes recently.
Parent Teacher Interviews - Week 1 Term 3
In Week 1 Term 3 parents and carers have the opportunity to have a parent teacher meeting with their child’s teacher. This is a forum to discuss your child’s Semester One Report and the goals you might wish to be achieved in Semester Two. The parent teacher meetings will be conducted through an online platform, e.g. Zoom or Teams, as per the request by Catholic Education for this to be the process in all primary schools at this time.
Soon you will receive more information about to book in a meeting time with your child’s teacher.

St Anthony’s Feast Day Celebrations
Thank you everyone for supporting St Anthony's Feast Day on Friday. It was wonderful that the school community participated in prayer as well as fun activities to celebrate our patron saint. The current COVID-19 situation didn’t stop the students and staff engaging in the day in a collaborative spirit. Thank you to Miss Beth Lehmensich who put together the lovely liturgy for us and also Mr Ben McDevitt and Mrs Kelly Mara for being the Trivia Masters for the great session on Friday.
School Photos
We have been able to book for school photos on Wednesday of the first week of Term 3 (22nd July). At this stage the photos will be individual only. Further information regarding ordering etc will be sent home early next week.
Uniform
Recently I have been noticing that some students have not been wearing our school uniform incorrectly. Please make sure that your children are in full school winter uniform. Please click on the link below.
Students who are unwell
Thank you for keeping children home who are presenting with cold and flu like symptoms. We are seeing an increase of students coming to sick bay feeling unwell, and we are sending all students home if they have coughs or colds at school.
COVID-19 Restrictions
With the easing of restrictions across the ACT, we remind parents that they are still to refrain from entering the school grounds until further notice. Thank you for being patient and understanding as we work to ensure the health and safety of all our students, staff and families.
St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal
We are currently collecting donations of the following items:

- New socks (men's, ladies and children)
We will also be having a pyjama day on Monday 29th of June. We are asking students to come to school dressed in their pyjamas and to bring in a gold coin, or a larger donation if possible, to support the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal.

Princpal
This week we received this wonderful email regarding some of our students. So very proud.
This afternoon (16/6) after school there was a small incident on the way home where one student had an accident on their bike. I did not witness the accident, however, I was thoroughly impressed by the small group of students who stopped to help the young injured boy. They were all assisting in some way; sharing mobile phones to contact the injured boy’s parents, caring for him, etc. Even though I was the only adult there, I certainly didn’t need to be. These students acted with incredible maturity, kindness and calmness. I did not get any names, though some students did have “school leader” badges on. All these students, I feel, are worthy of that honour. Congratulations to the students, their parents/guardians and St Anthony’s for developing such exemplary children!
Last week a nurse from the Weston Creek Walk-In Centre dropped in a thank you card. The thanks was for the donation of lots of chocolate bars (donated for the school fete which of course was cancelled). What a lovely card.
