As we begin a new term, we give thanks to God for our wonderful St Anthony’s School community.
How proud I am of all of our children who have begun term 3 so beautifully. Parents and carers, thank you for all your efforts to ensure our students have been settled and so well-prepared for learning. We have lots of exciting things happening this term and look forward to sharing our teaching and learning with our STA community.
Heavenly Father, we are grateful to be returning to this place of learning and growth. We thank You for Your unending love, for Your protection during the past holidays, and for the gift of this new school term.
We ask for Your blessings upon all the students, teachers, support staff, and families. May Your wisdom guide us in our pursuits of knowledge. Open our minds to understand new concepts, and our hearts to receive Your love and truth. May our actions reflect Your teachings of kindness, respect, and integrity.
We remember those who are disadvantaged, and those struggling with various challenges. May Your mercy be their comfort. Inspire us to reach out in compassion, to make our school community a place where everyone feels valued and loved.
In the midst of our teaching and learning, help us not to forget the important lessons of the gospel - lessons of love, generosity, humility, and service.
In every success, let us remember to give glory to You. In every difficulty, let us find strength in You. May our journey this term draw us closer to You, and to each other.
We entrust this school term to Your divine guidance, praying that all we do will bear fruit for Your glory.
Amen.
You may hear from students that they have been playing on the new equipment at the bottom of the school oval. Our de-escalation station is a new addition to the school playground. We are gradually introducing play on this equipment to students in Years 3 to 6 over the coming weeks. Students will be shown how to access and utilise the station safely with clear instructions and guides from staff before being able to use it during some breaks.
Have a lovely week,
Erin Marmont.
Next Monday, Ross Fox, director of Catholic Education will join us for our showcase of academic awards at 9am morning assembly. Following assembly Mr Fox will be taken on a tour of our school and see the wonderful and teaching and learning across P-6. Families are warmly welcome to join us for our Monday morning assembly.
Have you heard about the Front Garden Project?
With assistance from the ACT Government under the Parent Engagement Grant Program, we are redeveloping the front-of-school garden areas.
Thank you to everyone who contributed ideas and suggestions at the end of Term 2 towards our school front garden. Work is now underway. You would have noticed on return to school, that the area immediately outside the front office now has some concrete paths provided courtesy of Holcim and Apex Concreting - a big thank you to one of our parents, Justin Dove, for organising this. This is the start of further work on this area that will happen during Term 3.
Calling all ‘do-ers’ (there were many of you that referred to yourselves as this during the front garden consultation period), gardening enthusiasts and those happy to lend a hand...
The first working bee will be on Saturday 29 July 9.30-1.30pm. Bring your wheelbarrows, rakes, gardening gloves etc and any old newspapers or packing paper you have. We need to lay mulch, trim a few small trees/bushes and start laying some stepping stone paths.
A sausage sizzle and drinks will be provided for all that attend. Kids are welcome.

We have a new electronic school sign at the front of the school to display weekly relevant information to our community. Our school Compass portal and calendar on our school website display upcoming events for the term. These are updated as soon as new or changed events are made known to us. A weekly what’s on message is sent via Compass and Facebook on Sunday at 4pm. Both of these messages display an overview of upcoming events for the week, are exactly the same as each other, and usually reflect information that can already be found on our school and Compass calendar.
Jessie B and Mikah Z participated on behalf of St Anthony’s in the year 5 and 6 division of the ACT and Southern NSW Inter-schools skiing competition. They both did amazingly well, skiing against much older kids especially as Jessie has never raced before. Jessie finished both her races in the top half of the field and Mikah has qualified to represent the ACT at Nationals in September. A big Congratulations to them both!
2023 Netball ACT Junior Championships
Congratulations to Isabella O, Michala O, Rebecca F and Alyssa D who competed in the 2023 Netball ACT Junior Championships on 1-2 July.
The junior championships mark the end of the representative netball season, in which the girls have played at multiple local and interstate carnivals since March. All of this is on top of their commitment to both their school and district club teams.
All the girls were fortunate to make it to at least the semi finals with their teams - a huge achievement against the best teams in the ACT!
An extra congratulations to Isabella O, who won the Spirit Award for 12 years.
